Ascension Lutheran Church

About Us

Discover how much God loves you at Ascension...

We invite you to join us as we worship the God, who through His Son Jesus Christ, has shown us how much he loves us!  Through the presence of the Holy Spirit we receive strength to rise above our trials in this world.  Come and pray with us as we seek God's will for our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.

Ascension is a young, growing church.  We reach out into our community to offer a Christian presence that will make a difference.

If you are looking for a place to hear the Scripture proclaimed faithfully and in down-to-earth language, we invite you to worship with us and experience the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Pastor Tom Clark

Who are Lutherans?

Lutherans were the first Protestant Christians, tracing their beginnings back to 1517 with Martin Luther in Germany.  Luther was "protesting" what he saw as the errors of the medieval church.  He began his debate within the church by posting his Ninety-five Theses in the town of Wittenberg.  Today Lutherans are the largest group of Protestant Christians worldwide.

Ascension is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, with membership in the U.S.A. of 5.2 million.  Learn more on the Internet at www.elca.org.

Lutheran Christians Believe...
  • that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior
  • in the Father, Son, Holy Spirit
  • that the Scriptures are the rule for faith
  • that salvation comes to us as God's gift through faith and Christ
  • in two Sacraments: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion
  • the statements of faith as attested by the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed

Lutheran Christians Practice...

  • infant as well as adult baptism
  • open communion for all baptized Christians (Christ's real presence in the bread and wine)
  • Christian education (Sunday School, Confirmation) for all ages
  • Liturgical worship (the Bible and prayers of the early church are sung to the best of traditional and contemporary music)

Ascension's Goals-TO PROCLAIM CHRIST'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

We will do this through...

  • being a supportive community of friends in Christ,
  • showing compassion to the needy in the name of Christ
  • nurturing all those who seek to be followers of Christ through worship, education and fellowship.
