Health Ministry - This proposed ministry looks to meet the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of Ascension. We hope to be able to address these needs by offering services such as: blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, vision screening, cancer detection, stress management, adolescent parenting class, weight control program, exercise classes, and other programs. Contact Jackie O’Neillfor more information.

Disaster Relief Ministry - In the fall of 2001, Ascension members helped a family in Richland recover from flood damage. We rebuilt a fence that was washed away, and cleaned the toys that were damaged in the floods.

In the summer of 2002, Ascension members worked with other Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and other Lutheran churches from various states to help rebuild or restore homes in the town of Isola (in the Mississippi "Delta") that were damaged by tornados last year.  Our work continues.

During the summer of 2002, Ascension members also directed and assisted in "Camp Noah," a program to help children who had experienced the trauma of tornados.  The program addressed both the emotional and spiritual needs of the children.

Storybook Project - Ascension members regularly participate in a program at the Central Mississippi Corrections Facility in Brandon where we assist incarcerated mothers record on audiotape readings from books provided for their children.

Grief Support Group - This group discusses the issues of loss and grief, and it meets periodically as members can schedule. Contact Tammy Harper for more information.
